Know What To Eat After Wisdom Teeth Are Removed

It’s understandable, given the fact that around 80% of the population are unable to maintain their wisdom teeth – that the phrase “what to eat after wisdom teeth are removed?” is a very popular search term on Google.
In fact, it’s one of the most frequently asked questions we get asked as dentists. The answer, however, isn’t as simple as reeling off a whole list of foods or ingredients. On the contrary, what may be good for one individual after wisdom teeth removal, isn’t necessarily good for another.

Moreover, there are several elements that can and do affect the type of food you eat after tooth extraction. So let’s take a closer look at those first…

The number of wisdom teeth extracted

It could be that you only have to undergo one simple extraction e.g. if the tooth is completely visible with no obvious complications. In this case, recovery time is likely to be speedy. Alternatively, you might need to undergo multiple wisdom tooth extractions which is likely to prolong any recovery time.

The complexity of your wisdom teeth removal

This was alluded to in the last paragraph, but not every tooth extraction is the same. Some are deemed to be quick and easy procedures – e.g. when the tooth has fully grown through and is visible. Others, however, can be more complex – e.g. when they have only partially broken through the gum, are undermining other teeth, are growing at an irregular angle or in an unusual position.

Antibiotics

In people who naturally have difficulty in fighting off infection, wisdom teeth removal may also mean a ton of antibiotics. Some antibiotics, however, can cause side effects including diarrhoea and nausea. Certain foods like spicy foods or caffeinated drinks can exacerbate these symptoms further, so in these instances they may best be avoided altogether.

So now you know how individual circumstances can affect what to eat after wisdom teeth are removed, let’s take a closer look at the foods you can and should eat following wisdom teeth removal.

It’s worth pointing out that many of these foods are also ideal for those who have undergone periodontal surgery, but as suggested, each surgery and each person is different so it’s important to follow your dentist’s post-op instructions closely.

Vegetables

Vegetables, particularly the green variety, are extremely good for aiding recovery. Foods like steamed tender stem broccoli, kale and spinach contain a myriad of vitamins and nutrients which can speed up the recovery process. Other vegetables like soft butternut squash, steamed carrots or mashed potato are also easy on the jaw and are ideal in the early days after wisdom teeth removal.

Beverages

Of course, the key to any speedy recovery process is staying hydrated so try to drink plenty of water. Avoid heavily acidic drinks like orange juice for several days after undergoing wisdom tooth extractions. They may cause a burning sensation in some cases. Drinks like smoothies and protein drinks are also good for recovery but avoid drinking through a straw as any sucking motion can cause damage to the surgical site.

You also want to avoid heavily carbonated drinks and alcohol until you are fully recovered as they can also have a detrimental effect on the healing process. Hot drinks such as coffee and tea can be taken, but only when the mouth has begun to recover.

Pasta

After wisdom teeth removal you may want to partake in a bowl of pasta. Pasta is normally good but only when cooked until very soft – avoid anything ‘al dente.’ In addition, try to avoid tomato-based sauces as they are acidic and may cause discomfort to the extraction site. Although not quite pasta, foods like Ramen noodles are also acceptable when taken alongside a broth – do be mindful that anything too hot can also cause problems at any wisdom tooth extractions’ site, so tepid is the way to go until your recovery is further advanced.

Soups and smoothies

Both soups and smoothies are nutrient-rich and will balance out many of the high sugar options such as jelly and ice cream. So these should make up the majority of your food intake, particularly in the first few days after wisdom teeth removal. As stated earlier, however, do watch the temperature.

Dairy products

Foods like natural yoghurts and cottage cheese are also great for providing calcium to aid that all-important bone healing and as far as texture goes, they’re soft enough to be manageable. If you love eggs, then softly scrambled is the way to go. Milk is also good but even better when incorporated into oatmeal to give you an energy boost.

Fruits

Crisp green apples are off the menu for a few weeks after your wisdom teeth removal at least, but what about other fruits? Anything stewed is always good, so fruits like plums, pears and apples are ideal, just watch the sugar content. Bananas are good but preferably in soft or mashed form or even frozen and mashed as a healthy ice cream alternative.

Try to avoid store-bought canned fruits that contain lots of sugar. Seedless berries are good when pureed with milk in a milkshake but avoid seeded fruits like strawberries and raspberries where the seeds can get lodged in the extraction site. Avocados are an excellent source of potassium (even more so than bananas) and can also help speed up the recovery process after wisdom teeth removal – The best way to eat them is when soft – guacamole style!

Fish and meat

While you may want to avoid chewy steak, if you want to get in your meat fix, then well-cooked finely ground beef or turkey is a great source of protein. Alternatively, any soft flaky fish can also be eaten – just watch out for any bones which can become lodged in the tooth extraction site.

So there you have it…what to eat after wisdom teeth are removed and what you need to avoid.

How Do Braces Work? Understand How It Can Improve Your Smile

Having a beautiful straight smile can work wonders for your confidence, correct an irregular bite, or just close an unsightly gap. But how do orthodontic braces work?

In this post, we’ll discuss the various types of orthodontic braces and tell you more about how they work. By the time you’ve finished reading, you’ll know what to expect and feel more confident about undergoing treatment.

Although modern orthodontic braces are more lightweight and compact than their predecessors, they consist of several parts which work in conjunction to slowly help straighten your smile. Knowing the different parts makes it easier to understand exactly how braces work.

Brace parts

Both conventional and ceramic braces consist of a series of brackets which are glued onto each of the teeth. These are interspersed with arch wire.

Elastic bands or ligatures are then used to connect the brackets and the arch wire. These are dual purpose in that they hold the arch wire in the slot on the bracket, but also help direct the teeth in a certain direction. Movement depends on the type of ligature used and the way it’s tied to the tooth.

So now you know about the working parts of a conventional orthodontic brace…

How do braces work?

Braces work by applying constant pressure to your teeth which in turn causes them to slowly move into the correct position. The arch wire together with the ligature applies the majority of the pressure, while the other parts, such as the brackets, serve to hold the wire in place.

If you happen to have stubborn teeth, then stainless steel wire ligatures may be used in place of elastic ligatures. They work in the same way but provide more force between the tooth and the bracket.

To answer the question of how do orthodontic braces work, you need to be aware that when you look into the mirror you’re only seeing the upper part of your teeth. The real magic happens below the surface!

Firstly you need to know that each and every tooth is attached to the jaw by a fibrous ligament known as the periodontal ligament or periodontal membrane.

While braces actively encourage your teeth to move, they also put pressure on the periodontal membrane located below the gum surface. As this occurs, one side of the membrane stretches out, enabling the teeth to move. The brackets and bands then push from the other side, which creates enough space for the teeth to move into.

This part of the procedure is called ‘bone remodelling’ and serves to make the teeth stronger. Here’s how it works in more detail…

When pressure is applied to push the tooth, cells are triggered known as osteoclasts. Their job is to dissolve the existing bone so that the tooth can be moved. At the same time, when tension is applied, new bone-forming cells known as osteoblasts build new bone to secure the tooth once moved.  Over a period of months, the Ying and Yang of pressure and tension provides a continual biological cascade of dissolving and rebuilding until eventually, the tooth or teeth reach their final position.

In addition, the heat inside the mouth (usually around 98 degrees) also causes the wire to bend – kickstarting the tooth movement.

Treatment length varies according to the complexity of each case but once treatment has ended, you should have perfectly aligned teeth and a correct bite.

Here’s how they work…

Rather than just one fixed brace, a patient will be issued with a series of aligners which are worn sequentially for the duration of their treatment. It’s important to note that ClearCorrect braces must be worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day to achieve the best results.

Each new aligner is designed to move the teeth a tiny distance – usually around 0.25mm. While that might not seem like much, it adds up collectively over a period of months to complete a perfectly straight smile.

While each new aligner may initially appear tight, it’s designed to be that way as the teeth slowly start to move into the new aligner, filling the space. As they do so, less pressure is felt, and the aligner will appear more comfortable in the mouth. This shows that your teeth are moving.

Usually after 2 weeks, the aligner has done its job and is replaced with the next one in the series. By the time the last aligner has been worn, the teeth should be straight and in their correct position.

So now you know the answer to “how do braces work?” hopefully you’re feeling more confident and ready to get your braces on.

Why not make an appointment with ORC Dental today and take the first step towards a beautiful new smile.

What to Do After Tooth Extraction – The Do’s and Don’ts Explained

Have you ever wondered what to do after tooth extraction?

Even though a tooth extraction is usually only carried out as a last resort, there are many reasons why teeth may need to be pulled. It could be because a tooth is impacted and undermining adjacent healthy teeth. Alternatively, the tooth could be diseased, and removal is now the only option. Or, in cases of overcrowding, tooth extraction is carried out to make better space in the mouth to allow for a healthy smile.

Whatever the reasons for your tooth extraction, it’s important to note that there are do’s and don’ts that you really should follow after the extraction process. So without further ado, let’s dive in and take a closer look…

Firstly the do’s

Rest and recuperation

Okay, so after a tooth extraction you don’t necessarily need to be bedridden, but what you don’t want to do is to over exert the area – especially within the first 24 hours. With this in mind, try to avoid any unnecessary bending and stooping and definitely avoid exercise. Try where possible to keep your head in an upright position – similarly when you sleep at night, as this will aid a speedy recovery. Rest gives your body the ammunition it needs to get you back to normal fast, so do take advantage of it.

Let the tooth extraction site clot

When a tooth is extracted, you’ll normally be asked to bite down on a piece of gauze for 30 minutes to 1 hour after the event. This is so that the tooth extraction site forms a blood clot. This is normal and is part of the healing process The clot acts as a barrier protecting the site so it needs to be allowed to form. If it isn’t allowed to form, then the bone and nerves underneath can be exposed to air, food or fluids, thus inviting infection. You may want to change the gauze if bleeding is particularly heavy, but most importantly follow the dentist’s instructions.

Drink plenty of water

After an hour or so, once the blood clot is formed, it’s vital for any recovery process that you keep hydrated, so drink plenty of water. Be careful not to swish it about too much in your mouth and avoid drinking through a straw – any sucking action will disturb the newly formed blood clot. After tooth extraction, you can also mix a little water with salt to make a light saline solution. This can then be moved gently over the area but do avoid spitting. Instead, let any excess water fall out of your mouth into the sink naturally.

Consider ice packs

When it comes to simple tooth extractions, patients shouldn’t expect to see any swelling. However, in cases where an extraction involves a more complex procedure, patients may see some degree of swelling.

This is perfectly natural and usually starts within the first 24 hours and reaches a maximum up until the 2nd or 3rd day. If your tooth extraction appears to be anything less than straight forward, your dentist will probably suggest that you apply an ice pack to quickly reduce any swelling present. If this is the case, then you should look to apply ice to the side of the face where the procedure took place in 15-minute intervals – 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off. This should be done for a period of one to two hours.

Please note that ice packs are mainly beneficial when applied within the first 24 hours after tooth extraction. So start them early if necessary.

Finally, return to your dentist if bleeding persists after 24 hours or you experience major discomfort then return to your dentist. It could be that there is a problem with the tooth extraction site and it needs further investigation. Remember problems are always easier to address and treat when spotted early, so don’t ignore any unnecessary symptoms.

So now you know what to do after tooth extraction, let’s take a closer look at the things you really shouldn’t be doing.

Now the don’ts

Smoking

If you do smoke, you should quit for 48 hours at least. The chemicals found in tobacco smoke can affect the clot and increase the chances of your tooth extraction developing a dry socket.

Drinking alcohol/carbonated drinks

It’s also advisable not to drink any fizzy drinks or alcohol for four days after the tooth extraction process as this again can dislodge any blood clots that have otherwise been formed.

Avoid certain foods

For the first 24 hours at least, try to avoid foods that are chewy, crunchy or spicy, and stay away from foods containing grains and seeds. The reason is that they can irritate the extraction site. Instead, opt for softer foods like soup, scrambled egg, mashed potatoes, fish and yoghurts but try to avoid extremes of temperature – e.g. anything too hot or cold.

Don’t poke around the tooth extraction site

Having a tooth removed may seem a little strange at first but it’s important to avoid poking it with your tongue, finger, tissue or toothpick. It can destroy any blood clot formed, provoke further bleeding and lead to a dry socket.

So there you have it…what to do after tooth extraction and what not to do.

If you are worried about the tooth extraction process or you have any questions or concerns, then come and talk to the team at Oral rehabilitation center. We use the latest gentle techniques coupled with experience to make the process as comfortable as possible for every patient.

6 Steps Success Guide to Dental Implants!

6 Steps Success Guide to Dental Implants!

Before we dive deeper into the dental implant procedure as a whole it’s worth taking a closer look at the steps in short. They include:

  • Damaged tooth removal (where applicable)
  • Jawbone preparation (bone grafting) if applicable
  • Dental implant surgery (placement)
  • Bone growth and healing (osseointegration)
  • Abutment placement
  • Permanent dental crown (the artificial tooth)

And while it may seem a lot of steps, do remember that this entire process is carried out over several months. So without further ado, let’s take a look in more details.

Step 1: X-Ray

Need a precise estimate for eligibility evaluation. We will provide a CT bone density scan, which will control the thickness, width, and depth of your jaw. Before signing your consent on the treatment form, you will also be given an X-ray review to investigate further.

Step 2: Extract the Tooth

When a patient chooses a dental implant, more than half of his/her teeth have fallen. In this situation, we have three choices

  • The patient needs a single implant
  • The patient needs multiple implants
  • The patient needs full mouth implants

In every case, it becomes necessary for the patient to relieve pain or to remove the damaged teeth.

Step 3(if required): Sinus lift or Bone Graft

Before placing a dental implant, the specialist always checks the quality of Bones. If the bones are not suitable in the right proportion, then bone graft or sinus lift could help in treatment, to make the bone healthy. In some cases, bone graft and sinus lift treatments also do not produce results. For that, the dentist advises the patient to go to Zygoma implant or Basal implant. This treatment increases the time of dental implant placement.

Step 4: Implant Placement

Anesthesia and sedation solutions are ready to ensure that the treatment remains almost painless. To put a dental implant during surgery, your oral surgeon makes you cut to open your bone and expose the bone. We drill Holes in the bone where a dental implant is placed in the metal post. Because the post-teeth will work as a root, it will deep-set in the bone. At this point, you will still have a gap where your teeth are missing. If needed, partial, We can put the temporary prosthesis in place for appearance. You can remove this later for cleaning or when you sleep.

Step 5: After Implants

You will now be awake with implants an hour or more. After a few hours, we will fit your implants, and the day’s treatment will be complete. You will be able to resume normal activities within a day or so. After about 10-14 days, We will eliminate your stitches, and you can start eating soft solid foods; after about eight weeks you can eat normally.

Step 6: Impressions

After about four to five months, the impression is taken to start building your final bridge. Generally, it takes some appointments to make sure your new teeth look good. Twice a year, it is required to have a check-up and visit our hygienist to secure the long-term success of your implants.

Let’s Have a look at Video Instruction below

In recent years, dental implant technology improved, which provides patients with a unique level of efficacy, convenience, and durability.

Keep in mind that oral bleeding will be present after surgery. With the cotton pack placed above the area, We will control the bleeding. If oozing is still active, then change the cotton for every 30-45 minutes required.

What you gain after placing a dental implant?

If you got the Dental Implant, You would never suggest denture to anyone. If you lose a tooth or teeth’s, the implantation of the tooth is a friend of your new lifespan. It also brings your enhanced appearance, healthy, and natural-looking teeth. They allow you to live a new way of life. You can eat without the inconvenience, smile without hesitation, laugh, talk, and enjoy all your daily activities without worrying about your teeth.

What makes dental implants feel completely comfortable and secure?

Oral rehabilitation center has practiced the clinically proven implant therapy; over time, it connects the live bone cells of the jaw. This combination creates a strong and durable anchor for your new teeth, which does not mean that no slip or extra movement (which can hardly do with a tooth). There is no difficulty in eating with dental implants; they do not need to adjust regularly and need minimal dental visits post treatment.

Some unseen benefits

If you are struggling with the denture, and you do not seem to get a cheerful response, dental implants may be the right choice for you. Behind the beautiful appeal, many people think that while considering implants, health benefits are an essential factor. For example, did you know implants can help stop bone loss in the jaw? After losing the tooth, the bone begins the naturally resorb. If we are not taking any action, then it can lead to other dental damage and can alter your facial structure. Dental implants connect with the bones, which prevent the jaw from resorbing. Implants help to maintain a more appealing facial structure, boost confidence and lead to better oral health.

The long-lasting solution makes Dental implant unique

When appropriately crafted, dental implants remain for a lifetime, making them one of the best properties for long-term tooth replacement solution. Of course, you can not ignore some of the more common benefits of dental implants. Unlike teeth, they never move or shift, and you do not need to use special cleaners and adhesives. Unlike a fixed bridgework, We should not insert the dental implant into the next healthy tooth. This fact can be accepted: Research has said that the long-term success rate of implants is more than 96%.

What exactly happens in surgery?

Dental implants are titanium hooks, which perform as tooth root replacements. We do surgical set into the jawbone. Tiny posts are then attached to the implant, which protrudes through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth. For many patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, we place the implant within your jawbone. For the first four to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, your restorative dentist designs the final bridgework or denture, which will ultimately improve both function and aesthetics. After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Your oral surgeon will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. Then, the doctors will be able to start making your new teeth. The dentist will take an impression. Then posts or attachments can be connected to the implants. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily routines.

Dental Implants vs. Denture Comparison

Over the last 30 years, Partial Denture was the best choice of people, because of reducing both times and price, but now it is not. With time, the discovery of new ways becomes necessary. Now people are move on to cost, time, ease, and durability as well as precision. During this time, we did a Small survey after understanding the benefits and loss of the patient about the dental implant. Its final choice has been asked. In which 6,772 people surveyed, in which 5451 people considered dental implants more appropriate. And only 1321 people supported the denture.

Our Suggestion

“The available evidence suggests that the rehabilitation of the mandible with a traditional Denture is no longer suitable for first-choice prosthetic treatment. Nerve Lateralization in Bangalore

Nerve Lateralization Treatment In Bangalore, India

In the posterior mandible, dental implants are typically used to support fixed prostheses. In several cases, severe bone resorption occurs in this area following tooth extraction. Some times, It is difficult to place implants in appropriate sizes due to the lack of vertical distance of the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN).

There are regenerative procedures in the posterior mandible to provide reconstruction with implants in cases of extreme vertical bone loss. Re-positioning of the nerve is one of the alternative ways in the research.

We are experts in Nerve Lateralization

Bangalore Dental experts are very experienced in placing Dental Implants. We have the proper solution to solve nerve-related issues. Inferior alveolar nerve lateralization and transposal in order with the placing of dental implants is seldom the only possible method to help patients to obtain a fixed prosthesis. With careful surgical and prosthetic planning, imaging, and exact surgical technique, this procedure can be successfully used for implant placement.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation in Bangalore

Full mouth rehabilitation is very popular in advanced dentistry. It is key to many prosthodontic treatments when you’ve many, or all the teeth in both the upper and lower jaw are broken or lost.

A full mouth restoration is also a solution to preserve the already weak teeth from being further damaged or fractured. There are various reasons behind your teeth becoming ineffective, which incorporate teeth grinding and longtime acid decay from harmful foods and beverages.

The treatment is also fit for people who suffer from constant headaches and pain in the jaw and the facial tissues. These are the typical symptoms of malocclusion, and those people need a bite adjustment to resolve all their problems.

Full Mouth Restoration aims to restore the maximum functionality of the mouth and to improve the overall oral health of these individuals. The treatment also resolves their problems of constant headaches and other issues.

What Is Full Mouth Reconstruction?

Full mouth reconstruction is a dental practice that focuses on complex dental issues. It can include severely decayed, broken or worn teeth, as well as complicated bites, which can hinder speech and eating.

These dental complexities require various fine and delicate reconstructive treatments to restore full health, form, and function. Full mouth reconstruction changes dental hygiene to provide patients with an improved quality of life.

Is Full Mouth Restoration right for me?

Because full-mouth restoration can include many different dental procedures and methods, it’s an option that’s possible to just about anyone. Whether your current dental problems are associated with tooth decay, injuries, or misalignments, we can work with you to determine a treatment plan.

Presently, some of the treatments that may be involved in full-mouth rehabilitation include inlays, on lays, veneers, crowns, bridges, and dental implants. Depending on the dental appliances that are necessary, you may also have a choice when it comes to the materials used. We can use such as porcelain, dental composite, or precious metals like gold and silver.

The Full Mouth Reconstruction Procedure

Checkup

The full mouth reconstruction plan begins with a thorough dental checkup to assess the patient’s oral health. It can include such as periodontal tissue, jaw muscles, as well as the color, shape, and size of the teeth. The orthodontist may take X-rays, photographs, and prints of the teeth.

Cleaning and Washing

Before any reconstructive procedures can start, The Dentist begins by cleaning the healthy teeth before moving onto the infected or broken tooth. We also check gums for gum disease. If anything goes wrong, we treat gum disease first, then move forward.

Methods of Rehabilitation

Dental implants

Related to repair damaged, decayed, or missing teeth, dental implants are usually essential for full mouth rehabilitation. Implants are titanium screws placed into the jaw bone. They work as the tooth root and provide a lifetime of durability and comfort for the replacement crown. Implants restore full performance and allow for enough biting and chewing.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns (or caps) fit over damaged or infected teeth to restore health and shape. Tops are durable and permanent rehabilitation which also enhances appearance. They copy the coating of natural teeth for an attractive and realistic finish.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are the ideal solution to many dental defects, such as crooked, discolored, and chipped teeth. They are wafer-thin, custom-made cases of porcelain bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Depending on your preferences, porcelain veneers can be made to whiten your teeth, or to match the actual shade or your enamel.

All-on-4 Dental Implants in Bangalore, India

All on Four dental implants are not a type of dental implants. All on Four is a method or order rather than a kind of dental implant.

The method was originated in Europe by Dr. Paulo Malo together with Nobel Biocare for the placement of full curves of upper or lower teeth. It can be a perfect tooth replacement solution when a patient has numerous teeth in either their upper or lower arches that are lost or damaged.

Best Choice for Missing teeth of all upper and lower arch

The full curve of replacement teeth and place on four dental implants. It allows the restoration of your complete curve of upper or lower teeth on the day of your procedure. The teeth are non-removable, seem, and sense like real teeth, and can give the added benefit of protecting the bone structure of your jaw. Many people refer to All on Four Dental Implants, but they should be referring to the All On Four or All-On-4 method.

What we can provides with All-on-4 treatment?

Using the All On Four method, we can give our patients with beautiful, functional non-removable teeth. There is no need for a long wait of six months for implants to blend. Besides, this method usually enables us to avoid bone grafting. Bone grafting can add an extra year to the timeline. Patients also report notable trouble from procedures such as bone grafts. On the day they get their All on Four dental implants, patients typically leave with entire curves of non-removable teeth.

Full curve replacements are an excellent choice for wearing traditional dentures. These orders can relieve so much of what people hate about the more conventional appliance. Some of the advantages of all on four dental implants include:

  1. No slippage or sensitive spots
  2. The looks and feel of natural teeth
  3. Recovering almost all of your original chewing and biting sense
  4. The sense to eat the foods you want to eat.
  5. The protection of the bone in your jaw.

Sinus Lift & Bone Grafting in Bangalore

Inadequate bone volume is a fundamental problem encountered in the rehabilitation of the edentulous posterior maxilla with implant-supported prostheses. The bone ready for implant placement may be limited by the presence of the maxillary sinus together with loss of alveolar bone height, and it may be increased by augmentation. With age or other different factors, the patient may lose the volume of the upper jaw bone in the molars. As soon as the surgeon is faced with such a situation, he is obliged to perform the filling of the sinus floor with a bone graft.

Sinus lift surgery helps you!

A result of implant success is the amount and quality of the bone where the implant is to be fixed. The upper back jaw has traditionally been one of the most challenging areas to actively place dental implants due to inadequate bone volume and quality and the close closeness to the sinus. If you’ve lost bone in that area due to reasons such as periodontal infection or tooth loss, you may be left without enough bone to place implants.

Sinus lift operation can help fix this problem by lifting the sinus floor and increasing bone for the placing of dental implants. Many techniques can be used to raise the sinus and support for new bone to form. In a straightforward method, a cut is made to expose the bone. Then a small circle is cut into the bone. This bony piece is lifted into the sinus cavity, much like a trap door, and space underneath is filled with bone graft element. Your periodontist can describe your options for graft materials, which can regenerate lost bone and tissue.
Knowing sinus lift surgery has been shown to significantly increase your chances for strong implants that can last for years to come. Several patients feel minimal trouble during this procedure.

Bone Grafting

A bone graft is a therapeutic method used to fix problems with bones or joints.

Bone grafting, or transplanting of bone tissue, is helpful in making bones that are damaged from trauma or problem joints. It’s also useful in getting bone around an implanted material, such as a total knee replacement where there is bone loss or a break. A bone graft may fill an area where the bone is lost or help provide structural stability.

The bone used in a bone graft can come from your body or a donor, or it can be completely artificial. It can provide a structure where new, living bone can grow if it’s accepted by the body.
